QBY-4050 is a high-effective Pockels cell driver a compact model with an extremely low power consumption, which was a requirement for a battery-powered system. By this model we demonstrate the technology. Other our driver series (QBU, QBD) could be also redesigned to reduce power consumption
Energy-effective driver, suitable for battery powered equipment, some LIDAR systems. Can be used for Q-switching, pulse slicing.
Maximum power does not exceed 10 W (for 5 pF load in 50 kHz and 4 kV regime). The output voltage is up to 5 kV, max. rep. rate is up to 50 kHz and depends strongly on the load capacitance (it is therefore recommended to use the shortest possible cables and to select a Pockels cell with a lower capacitance). The driver provides rise and fall times of about 30-40 ns. It is possible to control the pulse amplitude by an analog input signal and the pulse width by an external LVDS signal.
The module requires +24 V DC power supply and pulse generator to set an operating frequency and pulse width.
The module was designed to work in push-up (= normally off) scheme, when a base voltage level equals to zero. Non-periodic pulses are also possible, set by ajusting a pulse generatol correspondingly.
The module is very sensitive to load capacitance. In order to keep its perfomance close to datasheet values, one needs to minimize the load capacitance, numbers less than 20 pF are appreciated.
